Turn your annual report into a two-minute video

Most donors never open the annual report past the first page. A two-minute video that says thank you, tells one story and shows what the gifts did gets watched and shared.

All guides

The structure

  • 0:00 to 0:15. Say thank you first, and say who this is for: “This is for everyone who gave this year.”
  • 0:15 to 0:45. The need, in one sentence and one real number.
  • 0:45 to 1:20. One story: one person, family or place, and what changed. Use their words if you have permission.
  • 1:20 to 1:45. What all the gifts did together, in two or three numbers from the report.
  • 1:45 to 2:00. What comes next, and one clear next step: watch, visit, volunteer or give.

Keep it honest

  • Use only numbers that are in your financial statements or program records.
  • Get written consent before showing or naming anyone you serve, and never identify a child without a parent’s permission.
  • Don’t say “100% of your gift goes to programs” unless your financials show it.

These guides are general practice tips, not legal, tax or compliance advice. Follow IRS rules and your states’ requirements, and have a person review donor communications before they go out.
